Pennhurst Mental Hospital in Spring City, PA. Pennhurst State, is also referred to as Penhurst Insane Asylum was opened in the 1800’s in a day in age when treatments were very primitive and the treatment of the housed nut bags was not really monitored, being insane in those days was a tough state of mind and often the treatment of patients was abusive and can be referred to as torture.

It is now a place of hauntings, scary tales and a grim reminder of the days of old – and is famous for its in house ghostly activity, there is a lot of footage floating around of these occurrences like this one which is just a tour video :

The Pennhurst Mental Hospital was shut down in the early 80’s because of rumors including sexual abuse, physical abuse and torture, in it’s later years it housed disabled and mentally disabled youth. The mentioned torture were apparently ways of treatment.
